Q&A About OIOI STUDIO
What questions would you like to ask the brand OIOI STUDIO?
Creative Inspiration & Philosophy
I am in love with the art of your dolls, what are your biggest inspirations? and how many people work specifically on drawing up the designs themselves?
Thank you for your love. Our inspirations are deeply rooted in diverse sources, and the biggest one comes from retro old-school anime culture. The design process is a collaborative effort by the entire OIOI STUDIO team, including character designers, fashion pattern makers, and 3D modelers. Everyone works together to refine the personality, color scheme and overall design.
Where do you get the inspiration for your designs? What media and toys from the 2000's you like back then? How do you decided a theme for a collection? Will there be more regular, meaning non blind box, releases?
a.Many members of our team are fans of Y2K toys, animations and shoujo merchandise. Vintage BJDs, trendy dolls and retro magical girl animations have deeply shaped our aesthetic standards.
b.When determining the theme of a series, we will balance multiple factors including the team's creative passion, market feedback and production process feasibility.
c.We will also plan more limited action figures and single-character releases in the future, not limited to blind boxes. More information will be revealed gradually.
What were the inspirations for the styles of your dolls? why a sort of retro one? What are the conditions like for your employees and workers? do you have any videos of your factory spaces? Please! i love seeing the production process!
Our inspiration comes from anime and pop culture of past decades. We chose a retro aesthetic out of our love for Y2K-era girls’ culture, and this sense of nostalgia has become one of the core characteristics of our brand. In the future, we’ll also try to create more behind-the-scenes content about our production process and share it with everyone as much as possible.
What was the process in creating the characters for your dolls? Did you have any inspirations from anime characters?
When creating characters, we draw inspiration from Y2K fashion, retro shoujo manga, subcultures and more. For each character, we will first set their basic personality, traits and short backstories before developing their appearance, clothing and accessory designs.
Do you guys have a particular theme in mind when designing the dolls? They’re all so cute and nostalgic. Is there a story behind the dolls?
Our core theme is magical girls, which blends the ordinary daily life in Henshin Denki Street with magical fantasy. You can look forward to our official previews for more behind-the-scenes short stories later.
Who are the staff members favorite Transform Electrical streets doll/character?
Our team members have different preferences, and each character has its own supporters. Since everyone has a preference for the characters they participated in creating, it’s really difficult to choose just one as the number-one favorite!
New Series & Plan
Have you started working on another line now Henshin Denkigai 2 PekoPeko has been released and available for preorder?
Our team has launched the preliminary concept of the new series. However, we’re not able to reveal the full concept at this stage. Once the project is confirmed, we’ll be sure to announce it first through our official social media accounts, so please stay tuned!
What are your ideas/concept art for the next series?
For the third generation, we will launch a brand new design, which will feature many familiar existing characters and the child versions of new characters. The specific design details are still in the confidential stage for now.
What would the next generation aesthetic be about?
In the third generation, you’ll get to see the characters in their childhood forms, so we’ll be incorporating more adorable children’s clothing and styling elements into the designs.
Are there any plans for a third wave of Henshin Denki?
Yes, it's already in progress~
Can we expect to see darker & deeper skintones, such as browns, on upcoming Transform Electrical Streets?
You can look forward to it, and we also hope to offer more skin tone options in the future.
Are there any plans to make dolls with darker skintones? I would love to see it.
It's already in the plan.
Will you to a zodiac theme?
The zodiac theme is very interesting, and we will note down this creative concept as an alternative theme for future series.
Would it be possible to do a design contest someday and the winner gets their design made into a doll?
We think the idea of a fan design contest is very attractive! However, turning a design from a drawing into a finished doll involves a complex process, including tooling, mold-making, and mass production, with many cost and manufacturing considerations. We don’t currently have a concrete plan for such a contest, but we’ll keep the idea on file and seriously consider its feasibility if the right opportunity arises in the future.
What characters or anime series would you like to see collaborate with Transform Electrical Street ( Henshin Denkigai) in the form of dolls?
There are many anime series and characters that our team personally loves. For now, however, we’re focusing on developing and refining our original characters. Collaboration requires multi-party copyright communication with a very high threshold. If a collaboration opportunity arises in the future, we will make an official announcement as soon as possible.
Can we expect to see more fantasy characters like fairies, mermaids, dragons and elves?
We’re very interested in fantasy-themed characters ourselves, and themes such as fairies, mermaids, dragons, and elves are definitely among the possibilities we’re considering for future collections.
Are there plans to introduce new head sculpts with features like inset eyes, lips or elf ears?
We have conceived the development of more distinctive head sculpts, including fantasy features like elf ears. But new head sculpts require full prototyping and repeated sample testing, which takes a long time. We’ll share updates with you once we have further progress.
Will you ever make more fashion packs? all the doll clothing i have from oioi studio is super well made and designed with maximum cuteness, so i would love to see more outfits!
Thank you so much for your love! Developing doll clothing has always been part of our plans, and we’ll continue releasing more clothing sets in the future.
Are there any plans in the future to have a tan skinned character? On similar note to the suggestion, are there any plans or concepts for future lines that include a doll with tan or darker skin?
Expanding more skin tone options is a goal we really want to achieve, but resin color matching, prototyping and quality control involve many technical difficulties. We are conducting internal research and testing, hoping to offer more skin tone options in the future.
Can we expect to see Male- Henshin Denkigai (Transform Electrical Streets) anytime soon? Magical boys?
The magical boy related project is already in our internal design phase, and the launch time has not been confirmed yet. Please look forward to our future official announcements!
Products & Detail Features
Will the character Chiiya (red twin drills) be making a comeback as a future hanging card? Will Aiko’s original outfit be released as an add-on? How will the future 1/12 scale MJD project look? Will they be preexisting characters or new ones? Is this the same for the male project?
We have noted the high demand for this popular character and outfit, and will consider them for future projects, although we can’t confirm anything at this time. As for the 1/12 scale MJD project and the male character project, both are still in the early stages of development. They may include both familiar existing characters and brand-new original characters. More information will be announced as the projects progress.
Why do some of the magical girls in the Transform Electrical Street line not come with wands/ staffs?
According to the character settings, each magical girl has her own unique way of casting magic, so not every character is equipped with a wand or staff.
Why do some characters, such as Fina, not come with gripping/ holding hands when they have props, such as wands, to hold?
This is a regret left by the early design. Restricted by the initial part mold opening quantity and cost, no matching gripping hands were included. In subsequent new product development, as long as the character is equipped with handheld props, we will try our best to provide corresponding matching hand shapes.
Do you have any suggestions, expectations, feedback or blessings to the brand OIOI STUDIO?
Suggestions
I'd like to see proper materials to connect their head pieces.
Thank you for your feedback! We will focus on improving the durability of the connection components during future prototyping stages.
I’m not sure if it’s possible but the metal rods for the dolls are kind of tricky to put in and lead to one of the arms breaking, could they come with them already in or maybe a different internal design?
OK, we will try our best to improve this issue in new products.
I wish the dolls had thicker neck to look more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing, I also wish the joints were designed to look more natural and flowing. Last, but not least, I would love to see MJD, or just regular dolls with real functioning joints instead of elastic wire.
Thank you for your very professional feedback. We will optimize the neck proportion and joint appearance in the subsequent prototype stage. The MJD project is under development, and we are also very interested in improving the articulation experience of the dolls.
Having the option to buy neck connectors for those who want to customize with different bjd bodies.
We understand players' customization and modification needs, and we’ll evaluate the feasibility of offering neck connectors as separate accessories.
More fashion packs please with shoes included please.
Thank you for your suggestion! We will consider including shoes as part of the clothing set.
If you’re going to make magical girls, always include wands/ sticks/ staffs and more frills/ Lolita/ lace.
We will try our best to optimize the magic-themed weapon accessories, and incorporate more Lolita-inspired elements such as lace and ruffles.
The machine used to cut the dolls hair is sometimes cutting hair that shouldn’t be cut leading to unnecessarily short hairs, very thick, wide, heavy bangs and uneven hair ends which can be unflattering.
This is an existing issue in the mass production process. We will communicate with the factory to strengthen the quality control of the hair trimming process and reduce trimming errors.
I love the dolls so much! I appreciate there being an included stand. I hope there's less saran and kanekalon hair, however.
The stand will continue to be included as a standard accessory. Later, we will also evaluate the performance of different hair fibers and explore the optimal materials for future new releases.
I would hope you will continue to offer doll bodies and heads. I would suggest complete, customizable, doll kits. I realize it might not be affordable, but, I would love a blank head offered with twin tails. Especially in colors teal and pink. I would, also, buy shoes if offered, or included with outfits.
We will continue to provide blank heads and doll bodies; and we will evaluate the cost and feasibility of selling twin-tail blank heads and separate shoes.
Only suggestion I have is the hair stylists or people the generically cut the styles take better care in the section and make sure short hair characters with bobs have even hair styles and they should come with some styling jell at least or have the option to buy jell.
We will strengthen the quality control of hair trimming; as for the styling gel, special doll care products are also being considered as a possible direction for the future.
Expectations
An devil and angel themed matching bjds by you guys would be to die for. or a pastel lolita, paired with a gothic lolita doll. I loved how Zaisheng Re, and Xiaochun had similar aspects and elements while being so different from each other. more similar themed pairs like them would be awesome!
We really love this kind of contrasting yet complementary pairing. The combination of Zaisheng Re and Xiaochun has also received a lot of love from our fans. We’ll definitely take paired character sets with complementary themes into consideration for future projects.
An alien girl with green skin would be supper cuteee!!! i love the work you guys do, thank you for all your hard work
That's such a creative idea! We've already recorded it.
It would be great to see characters in darker skin tones!
We are already working on this plan.
Transform Electric Street is one of my favorite doll lines, and I would like to see some tan-skinned characters in the same style! It would create a more diverse and fun cast for people to imagine with.
We’re currently working through the challenges of color matching and prototyping, hoping to bring players more diverse characters.
My one want/suggestion to oioi studio would be: can there be further skin tone options past what's already available? Skin tones like tan and dark-skin! It would really help breach the limit of what's possible for customization with the oioi studio dolls :D
Thank you for the feedback! We’ll do our best.
The dolls you make are so cute!! Please consider making a clown or jester doll. I love them.
This style is very distinctive, and we will record this creative idea!
I really want to know more about the workers who put the dolls together! i want to thank them for their hard work! all the people who sew the clothes and operate the machinery and root the hair... i want them to know i really appreciate it! and i wonder about how they are doing! and i think about them! and i want to know more about them!
OK, we will shoot more factory diaries later~
We love your designs and hope to see more new collections soon!
Thank you so much for looking forward to our new collections! We’ll keep working hard to develop and refine our upcoming releases~
Please make a male blind box!
We've already started developing the male character series, and we believe you will meet them soon~
Feedback
The hair fiber you use on Transform Electrical streets is amazing, please do not change it, it is so soft and enjoyable.
Thank you for your recognition! We will keep the current hair fiber material~
Thank you for the Transform Electrical Streets, there is not enough Magical Girl media, dolls, or items in the world and you have given us such gorgeous, high quality, magical girls to care for and enjoy. These dolls are something I have waited a long time for, Thank you - From Dali.

Oioi studio makes the best and cutest bjd! the doll concepts are so well thought out and every doll is so unbelievably cute. i love oioi studio !!!!
Thank you so much. Our team is truly encouraged by all the love and support.

I think it’s so cool that Kikagoods is able to connect western fans with eastern doll designers! This was a lot of fun to read. Thank you for connecting our worlds! 💕
I have to disagree with one person’s comment though. “If you’re going to make magical girls, always include wands/ sticks/ staffs and more frills/ Lolita/ lace.” In my opinion that’s too basic! I love these dolls because they’re more unique magical girls and very reminiscent of Y2K magical girl shows. There are lots of Lolita frill dolls elsewhere. That’s just how I feel.
