Q&A About Mushroom Mycelium Naming Series

Updated: May 15

Unboxing Mushroom Mycelium Naming Series 1/12 Action Figure BJD Blind Box

  • Product Expansion & Future Plans

Would be more series like this?

Yes, we are actively developing more.

Will you be making bigger scale dolls?

Yes, we are already working on it.

Will you be adding any more mushrooms to the line up?

Yes, the mushroom family will continue to grow and eventually become a village, where all kinds of interesting things will happen.

Will there be more doll lines produced in the future? More nature related things would be nice to see, like bugs and flowers!

We have no plans for insect-themed dolls, but we do have floral ones in the works. If you keep following us, you'll see that our green elves designed with natural elements represents the feeling of flowers.

Could you make a flower set?

In the project we are developing, some individual elements have already started to incorporate floral elements, but as for a complete "flower series", it is not yet available.

Do you have any plans of making a Season 2 of this set? Will there be other skin colors?

Yes, there are many different colors for mushrooms. Our enthusiasm for this remains high. Currently, we are also striving to experiment with more interesting and attractive colors, which we will use in the second generation or on single body.

Would you ever do a boy version? I’d love to see some fun(guys)?

We're considering it. Creating boy versions is a challenge for us. If we don't handle it well, people might think of Mario (just kidding). We have been working on it and hope to present it to everyone as soon as possible.

What made you think of mushrooms? Would you make another series of mushroom or other forest plant dolls?

It was a sudden inspiration that made me forget the original plan. It seemed that I had decided to work with mushrooms from the very beginning. I don't know why, but it just started all of a sudden, and then I kept working on it. Yes, we will continue to expand the mushroom family and eventually reach nature.

Was there a specific mushroom that inspired you to create this entire line? Who came up with the idea? Was it a single designer or a creative team? Were several mushroom designs (concept sketches) rejected? Do you have any mushroom designs you’d like to try for a second series? Do you plan to release more series with the same theme, or explore other elements? What kind of elements are you planning? What is the story behind the special firefly doll? I have a lot of questions?

Our cover doll — Amanita Muscaria, was unanimously approved by the entire team.  We've tried many mushrooms, and some designs were repeatedly refined until everyone approved them. These will be included in the second generation, which has already begun. Currently, we're focused on this theme because we love nature, these little spirits, and tiny lives. We'll continue to incorporate natural elements. The "firefly" features a green-flamed look, which is a special color style of the Shaggy Mane. However, we wanted to avoid the negative connotations of "ghost" and opted for a more mysterious and elegant name: Firefly. She's a mutated Shaggy Mane that emits fluorescence at night, guiding those in need. Initially introverted and preferring solitude, she loves reading and is actually a knowledgeable teacher.

I would be interested in seeing some mermaids, will you consider it?

Yes, but it won't be a series. Instead, it will draw on elements and be presented in a single item.

Are you planning on creating any boys? From this Mushroom series?

We've thought about it, but it hasn't received unanimous approval in our decision-making process recently. However, it's likely that we will!

Which outfit will the secret come in? There’s two versions pictured the long dress and then the short reflective one which one is the actual one it’s a little confusing.

Originally, it was a fully reflective short skirt, but people said it lacked the wow factor for a hidden version. So, we opted for a long dress to enhance its presence.

What would you do differently if you had chance?

We strive to develop our technology, particularly in refining the integration of functionality and design, which requires numerous attempts until functionality is achieved. As for design, inspiration is constantly flowing, and we hope to explore various surprising possibilities, such as creating a small yet exquisite mushroom umbrella while keeping costs under control so that everyone can easily own it.

  • Design Inspiration and Selection

Do these girls go on fairytale adventures in the lore of these dolls?

After being enchanted by the green elves, they have embarked on their adventure journeys.

How did you guys figure out that you wanted to make the mushrooms?

We all love nature. In many inconspicuous places, various beautiful mushrooms sprout up. We hope they can "come to life" and appear before people.

Why did you pick the mushrooms that you picked?

Their unique characteristics first caught our attention. Among the vast mushroom family, these ones seemed to say, "Me, me! I want to run!" So they took priority.

How did you decide which species of mushrooms to base them off of?

First, their colors caught our eye, and then their adorable shapes. Initially, we were quite puzzled given the numerous varieties, but we ultimately made our choices based on intuition.

Who is your favorite mushroom? Why did you choose the art style for their cards?

Of course, I like all of them. If I had to pick my favorite, it would undoubtedly be the lively and cheerful red one —Amanita Muscaria. She's sunny, positive, innocent, and kind, much like the girls in our team who face everything with optimism. These artistic styles was chosen by our girls too—it's pure, natural, and approachable.

Were there any cool/unique mushroom species you wish could have been themes for a doll design but were too complicated or didn't make the final cut?

Wow, you really know us! Yes, there were. For example, Aseroë rubra and Dictyophora indusiata. We designed many versions but put them aside for now. However, we won't give up and hope to include them in our mushroom town in the future.

How did y'all research the mushroom species before starting character designs? Did any of the designers become amateur mycologists in the process?

This was a very peculiar experience. Yes, we read a lot of books and materials, and spent time actually going to the forest to search for and observe real mushrooms. But it didn't turn out to be very professional; it might be considered amateurish. It still requires further learning, HAAAAA.

Were there any features of a mushroom that you found particularly difficult to translate into the design, like the Hydnellum Peckii's ""bleeding"" appearance maybe?

There are many kinds of mushrooms, and most of them have very unique shapes. The ones selected here are already varieties that many people can recognize by their names.

  • Designer and Design Team

Who was the artist for the doll? They're very unique and detailed compared to other dolls!

Thank you for your appreciation! These designs were created by our team of young designers who just graduated from school. They're passionate about BJD dolls and aspire to become true artists one day.

I can tell the artist that worked on these dolls had a blast drawing all the little pictures and inserts that came with them. I want to know what inspired them to have so much fun with it?

Our designers are a group of lively and positive girls who always come up with interesting ideas in their artwork. Their inspiration often stems from their interest in new things and their ability and willingness to bring those ideas to life. Designing these dolls is very exciting for them, and they participate with great enthusiasm. Yes, the whole process is joyful and will continue to be so.

  • Feedback & Blessings

I expect that dolls can have a hair head like more realistic.

We have been quietly making attempts.

The designs on these are adorable!, one of the most interesting ive seen, although im not a fan of dolls with this kind of body, this one really cought my attention with the designs, especially in the hair and outfits.

Thank you for your love. We will continue to release more sincere works. We hope that each one can accompany the people who like it through many interesting experiences and always be by their side.

The dolls are beautiful and carefully crafted—the details, the colors, the eyes, the bodies, outfits. Wonderful!

Really? That's great! We'll keep striving to make every doll perfect.

Love at first sight! Gorgeous dolls!

Thanks.♥

I wish you all more lucky and beautiful drops!

Absolutely! That's what we hope for too!

Thank you for a cute product!

Ah, thank you for your like. This will be our motivation!

Smaller boxes would help the big ones seem to get dented more easy and take up a lot of room.

OK, I've noted it down. We will make more improvements. The perfection of the box is really crucial!

Each design was very unique and beautiful! The body sculpt was very nice, and their hair was incredibly well done! The extra clothing available for purchase is all very cute, and would be great to see again in the future since it offers more option when dressing the dolls. The movable eyelid faceplates were also very unique.

We are working hard on this. Soon, the options for our mushroom series will be even more diverse!

One of my favorite things about the line were the Special Color dolls. The differences between them and the original dolls made them feel different enough to be a whole new design! Their quality is also very high, and the only thing that'd make them better is if they came with a silicon washer in the neck joint to help with posing.

We have reported this issue to the production team and will come up with the best solution!

The dolls are adorable! However, only the red and black doll had a design I liked. I felt the others were basic. Otherwise great dolls!

Each doll will have its own uniqueness. It's the happiest thing to get the favorite one. We'll also continue to enhance the other styles to make each doll more vibrant.

Better Quality Control - certain dolls were sent out strung poorly and with weak or missing magnets.

We're truly sorry for some minor mistakes in the production process. We'll strengthen our review and sampling inspections.

I am excited for this series, especially the cute mushroom design! Thank you for the wonderful doll line! They're so unique and creative : )!

We hope it can accompany you for a long time and share beautiful moments with you.

Wish you lots of success on all your next adventures!

Thank you. We'll keep working hard.

I adore this line of dolls, the bodies and clothing are so lovely and the theming around mushrooms is so cute and whimsical! I hope we get to see more of them <3

Our designers are very happy with your praise. It's the biggest encouragement for them!

I think pixie/fairy dolls would be really cool! and with fantasy skin tones like blue/pink/green!

They'll be available. We are already in the process of developing it.

I'd love it if there were just bodies to buy since the freebies only gave two while there were many, many, many faces! It'd also be great if there were male or masculine characters too!  I love these BJDs a lot, but there have been parts that were glued on falling off, which hopefully can be fixed in the future!

It will be available soon. The single bodies are being designed and optimized in all aspects. The male character is also under consideration. Thank you for your feedback. We have reported all this to the factory.

I absolutely LOVED this series! The boxes, the dolls, everything about it! Thank you for such a beautiful and cared for product! The details were so beautiful and I would love to see more in the future if possible!

Yay! We're really delighted. The designers are so inspired by your praise that they don't want to put down their pens!

I adore the unique body shapes and how you’ve incorporated fungi into cute girls! You’re so talented I can’t wait to see what else you produce!

Yes, the designers love them just as much as you do and are already working on new creations!

This was my favorite series so far! I ordered them as soon as they went live for pre-order. I've been waiting for ages to get these, and it was so worth it! The only one I think you missed an opportunity on by not doing is the Bridal Veil Stinkhorn mushroom. The lace-like veil could have made a nice outfit design or limited edition figure. But you did pick some of my favorite mushrooms and nailed the themes! The Shaggy Mane and Bleeding Tooth designs are incredible! Thank you for the attention to detail and effort put into these designs. It is truly appreciated! I never thought two of my hobbies would overlap in this way. Y'all should be proud of these!

The Bridal Veil Stinkhorn mushroom was actually part of our initial design plan, but for certain reasons, it wasn't presented for now. However, you'll definitely see it in the near future. Thank you.

I loved the mushrooms!!! The body sculpt is beautiful. Looking forward to seeing what future creations you might make!

We're as excited as you are about our next work.

I loved the mushroom idea because I usually see more dolls with animal designs or dressed as students, nurses, nuns, maids, etc.

We absolutely love the mushroom dolls just as much as you do! ♥

I’d also like to suggest incorporating more elements related to nature and magical creatures; my first thought when I saw the dolls was of fairies or forest creature.

We also realized that all of these will gradually be incorporated into our design!
